Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging (Thermography) is a non-invasive imaging technique that records thermal patterns on your skin that help identify and/or monitor areas of dysfunction in any part of your body – what’s that mean? It finds hot or cold spots.
Thermography was approved by the FDA (US) in 1982 as an adjunctive diagnostic screening procedure for the detection of abnormal breast tissue. However, the greatest developments in this field have emerged in the past decade with the advent of digital photography and high-resolution digital imaging maximizing the screening potential for not only breast but the whole body!
Unlike medical X-rays or MRIs, which are tests of anatomy (or structure), Thermography is a test of physiology (or function), and is able to detect physiological changes in the body long before pathology appears. The results are a valuable tool in assessing, confirming or monitoring many health conditions. A non-invasive imaging thermography uses infared technology to detect patterns of heat or cold that may relate to inflammation, neovascularization or hyper/hypo metabolic activity, providing insight into many conditions including:
- Breast disease/cancer
- Thyroid function
- Inflammation and infection
- Lymphatic congestion
- Digestive disorders
- Arthritis, joint disease and other orthopedic issues
- Myofascial/fibromyalgia
- Neural impingements or dysfunction
- Chronic and acute pain
- Vascular issues
This valuable screening tool permits early detection and is aimed at prevention permitting potentially heath-altering interventions if changes are detected.
All tests are interpreted by medical doctors and results are provided in an easy to understand report.
Thermography is 100% safe with no radiation, contact, compression or side-effects.
It is safe for people of all ages and with all medical conditions.
