- Maintain a daily routine:
- Homemade anti-bacterial & anti-viral medicine:
Keep a small mason jar in your fridge layered with sliced onion, garlic and unpasteurized honey. Fill the jar until it is half-full. Consume 1 teaspoon of the liquid each morning. If you are feeling under the weather, take 1 teaspoon a few times throughout the day. Garlic and onion having amazing anti-microbial properties! The mixture also soothes the throat and relaxes the cough reflex. Please remember to avoid giving unpasteurized honey to our little ones under the age of 1!
- Eat regular meals and snacks loaded with protein, healthy fats & fibre:
Keep your adrenal glands regulated and happy by eating three nutrient-dense meals per day and include some healthy snacks. Most importantly, don’t skip breakfast! In Traditional Chinese Medicine, breakfast time is the most important time of day for your body to extract nutrients – including vitamins and minerals – from your meal to help produce antibodies to fight off pathogens! In colder weather our bodies also prefer warmer, easier to digest foods and finally, you can support your digestion even further by consuming delicious fermented foods!
Having recently transitioned from summer to fall with many families are settling into a back-to-school schedule, it is now more important than ever to maintain one’s routine. When changes to routine such as staying-up late, waking too early, following irregular meal times or skipping a workout schedule happen, our bodies can feel the effects. Keeping a routine helps lower our body’s stress hormone (cortisol!) which can have negative short and long term implications on our immune system.
