Healthy Skin From The Inside Out

Healthy Skin From The Inside Out

Clear, healthy looking skin is something that we can all appreciate. Most people assume that when they see a problem on the skin it’s simply a “skin” problem. But, putting reactions such as poison ivy aside, blemishes that show up on the skin are actually from within.

The skin is the largest detoxification organ in the body. Each organ has its responsibilities within the body but what they can’t fight off our skin will attempt to take over. Think about all of the sweat glands that we have, and how much gets secreted that way. Our body secretes toxins through our skin. With acne, instead of simply covering it up or treating it topically, it’s what’s happening inside that should be investigated.

Focussing on what we put into our bodies will help decrease the amount of toxins coming out. Dairy is one of the worst offenders for bad skin and a major cause for acne issues. Conditions like psoriasis is a kind of equal mix of what people are eating and stress, which is a significant problem in psoriasis. Psoriasis is one of the typical inflammatory responses in the body. Healing the gut so that we’re only absorbing the things we need is important to help keep your skin healthy and as is avoiding junk food. Once we can control what we’re ingesting we can manage our stress levels the skin should take care of itself. Skin has one of the fastest turnover of cells in the body.

Some quick basics for healthy skin:

  1. Eating enough protein
  2. Getting enough vitamin C
  3. Consumption of healthy oils – Omega 3 (Fish Oils) helps to slow down the inflammatory process which is obviously good for the body.
  4. Overall proper nutrition and lots of water to help flush out toxins.
